India’s climate refugees forced to fight- here and now

Make no mistake about it, climate change is affecting real people now. They may not be people you particularly care about or they may seem a world away, therefore out of your consciousness. But they shouldn’t be out of your consciousness because around the world the effects of climate change which include sea level rise are being perpetuated by the burning of fossil fuels and the deforestation of our planet. And the countries most responsible for this, Australia, China, and the US need to become more conscious of what their actions are doing to the world now. Not in 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, or 40 years. Within 40 years at current levels of GHG output people in Florida may well know firsthand as well what these people now go through. But do we really want to know this firsthand? Or isn’t it more logical to take steps we can take now to lessen the impact of climate change and perhaps even work to slow it down? The people of these islands I fear will have no choice but to leave and where will they go? Will the countries spewing out the most GHGs and cutting down the most forests be willing to take them in?
